Birmingham (BHM) is the closest airport--an easy, 50-mile, 1-hour drive to Tuscaloosa, southwest on I59/20. Unfortunately, airport shuttles barely exist; but we hope to arrange our own informal shuttles.

To the UU Church from the Hampton Inn. Total Estimated Time: 12 mins.
Total Distance: 6.75 miles
  1. Start out going Northwest (LEFT from parking lot) on HARPER LEE DR toward JULIA TUTWILER DR.
    0.12 miles
  2. Turn LEFT onto JULIA TUTWILER DR.
    0.09 miles
  3. Merge onto US-82/MCFARLAND BLVD going WEST.
    1.21 miles
  4. Tricky part: Exit RIGHT onto RICE MINE RD, but turn LEFT at the stoplight at the end of the exit.

  5. Turn RIGHT onto NEW WATERMELON RD.

  1. Start out going Southwest on NEW WATERMELON RD--turning out of the parking lot to your RIGHT.

  2. Soon after crossing the dam, turn LEFT onto RICE MINE RD at the T intersection. Continue to follow RICE MINE RD. as it curves under MCFARLAND BLVD. (US82). Be sure to bear LEFT after you curve under MCFARLAND and reach a traffic light.

  3. Soon after you pass under LURLEEN WALLACE BLVD (US43) and RICE MINE RD. becomes 5TH STREET, turn LEFT onto MAIN AVE.
